Dearest Baby Boy

I had a dream
Of your eyes
They were glowing like his
I had a dream
Of your smile
It was gorgeous just like his

I had a dream baby boy
Of your laughter
Drifting in the silent house
Filling my tiny heart with warmth

Dearest baby boy
I had a dream
If your tiny hands
They drew on my own
Held my finger tightly
Reminding me we were a team

Baby boy
I had a dream
Of you throwing fits and kicking
Yelling and crying out loud
I felt you search for me
When far from your eyes I was

Dearest baby boy
I had a dream
Of you trying to crawl
Moving slowly
Just to reach me

Dear baby boy
I felt your tiny voice
Immature and innocent it was
Yet it beat like your dad’s
It was special
I felt it call unto me
It whispered mama

Dear baby boy
I had a dream
Of you lying in my hands
With a beautiful smile on your face
A content tingle in your eyes
As you drifted into sleep

Then my eyes opened
And the darkness sank in again
Cold and empty
And your crib…
It seemed to stare
Empty as of then
Reminding me
You were truly long gone
