When life brought me tears,
That I may break down,
In them I soaked my fears,
And they did drown.
When I was made to suffer,
That I may become lame,
The suffering made me tougher.
And I overcame.
When I was in pains,
I found endurance;
When I was in chains,
I found perseverance.
I was put in the jungle to meet my end,
A prey to the creatures wild,
But I made the lion my friend,
And he made me his child.
When life throws me into an abyss,
And awaits my demise,
Like a phoenix in a victorious bliss,
From the ashes I shall rise.
