“Faces” — A Poem by Chima Daniel

Beautiful faces
everyday we see,
found in different places
smiling with ease for free.

Ugly faces
fighting hard to win,
comparing different races
to a particular kind of skin.

New faces
seen under the sun,
bringing new traces
of people and fun.

Old faces
complaining of pain,
and filling leftover spaces
with petty unwholesome gain.

Bright faces
radiating with vision,
maintaining great paces
on the path to true mission.

Dark faces
embracing the night
with clubs and maces
to destroy what is right.

More faces
to appear and fade
ushering praises or disgraces
in the open and in the shade.
