“Eid Acts” — A Poem by Epiphany

If Eid were to voice itself,
its voice would soothe
just as the calm
of its morning,
this morning.

If Eid were to read the Koran,
it’d rhyme with the hurrah
of calm jubilant voices
of families, friends,
anticipatory kids
and neighbours
saying ‘Ameen!’

If Eid were to teach of trends,
it’d tell to me, and to you too,
to “Calm Down” regardless;
and, to not get g’ram’ed up
in our belly’s toothpicks
that we wouldn’t share
to the dingy-looking,
the uninvited visitor
or one of the other.

Eid Mubarak.

Why not share?
