The Little Dancer

Tiny feet caked with sand,
Freckled cheeks flushed from joy,
Painful scratches on red knees.
Watch our little girl move,
She’s as graceful as a monkey.

Silly faces made,
High screeches heard.
Giggles sounding far beyond the shores.
Listen to our little girl laugh,
She’s as silent as a parrot.

Wispy curls against fragile nape,
Chubby hands fisting cotton dress,
Dimples giving life to her smile.
Draw from our little girl’s cheer.
She’s as bright as the night stars.
