Nkwọdịmma

Your breath is the cool company
Breezed by your nostrils
Into my habitat
For fantasy.

Nkwọdịmma,
Stars are read
From each cowry
That chronicled your firmament.

Astrologers lost vision
When you toed Africa
Into an endless track
To reveal your beauty.

We are mortals
Dangling on the pendulum
Your fortified coconuts
Pinned our mouth to.

I’ll hang my rhymes
On a raffia roof;
It will enchant
Your lips to suckle my idle dream
Father placed me to dream
Without a definite rhythm.
