Everyday I go to work, I see him. I greet him too. I don’t know why but I didn’t stop. He always stayed at a corner by the side of the road. Doesn’t change position. Each time I greet, he doesn’t respond but only nods.
But today he did. He responded with a smile. We chatted a little bit. He told me he would visit.
“Visit?” I asked him.
“Yes. I know where you live,” he responded.
“You do? How? I never told you anything about my place,” I said with a little bit of fear.
He laughed. “I was only pulling your legs. Anyways, have a nice day.”
I left him and continued to my destination. I reached home that day to see a letter on my bed. I wasn’t really afraid. The letter might be for my friend who shared the same apartment with me. But on a second thought, no name was written on the envelope, so I decided to open it.
As I was reading it, my heart raced. My hands shook. The weather was hot but the room became chilly immediately. I looked around with a wave of fear. “How did this letter get here?” I asked myself. I read it again. The writing was very bold and clear.
“I told you I would visit. And I did. You might be surprised I responded to your greeting today. To be honest, your greetings everyday makes me happy. But just a little advice, you don’t greet anyone you meet. Some are ghosts like me.”
