Insatiable

Insatiable

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked me to let go of anger
And for your sake I dotted my face with smiles
And gave in to your silly wiles.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked me to conform
And for your sake I left the doldrums
And ascribed totally to your customs.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked for all my time
And for your sake, I destroyed friendships,
Meaningful and lasting relationships.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked for sustenance
And for your sake I replaced the bread of innocents with stones
Feeding them with hunger moans.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked me to become spectacled
And for your sake I became overly studious
And was deemed falsely fastidious.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You asked me to become a gentleman
And for your sake I became ‘distinguished’
Even though the fire of my passion was extinguished.

Why do you ask me for more?
When I’ve given all
You ask me now to forget my motherland, that I cannot do
Not only is it abominable
But I finally see that your thirst is insatiable.

Why not share?
