Uncle Ben

Remember me, Uncle Ben?
Remember me from back then?
The little one from next door
Whose sight you couldn’t ignore

Remember me, Uncle Ben?
The child who thought she was ten
Those days you’d made me kiss
Didn’t understand, I was only six

Remember me, Uncle Ben?
How dirty you made me then?
The things you evoked in me
The thoughts that were never seen

Remember me, Uncle Ben?
Remember how you held me then?
I was too full of innocence
Now I understand the nonsense

Remember me Uncle Ben?
Remember how you teased me then?
Wish I could meet your gaze
Wish I could spit at your face

Remember me Uncle Ben
Remember when you’d call, and then
Hold me to deliver you kisses
Wish I’d run away from your embraces

Remember me, Uncle Ben?
When those men walked in, and then
You sat me down to take a picture
Didn’t understand, didn’t get the picture

Remember me Uncle Ben?
Remember me from back then?
If only your business had thrived
If only you hadn’t died.
