Being Single

Being Single—ZenPens

Free and thrilled
Without chains called love
I am the epitome of serenity.
I flirt and tease;
Dress to kill,
Smile and dazzle,
The world at my feet.
Without care,
I delve into realms of discovery.

Aching and seeking,
A love of mine.
Envious of friends,
Enveloped in lovers’ warmth
I seethe in anger, wonder and pain.
Desires unquenched
None to tag mine.
Dread to thread another’s boundary,
For fear of unrequited love
Rooted deep.
