Continued from the last part…

“Guys, guys, we can’t just stand here forever.” She threw her hands up in frustration. Ruth who hasn’t said anything all through the ride down to Lakewood was already losing her patience. “Ugh!” she grunted, “Dani can you lead the way inside please? I’m tired and I need to pee. If y’all wanna stay out, fine!” She took her duffel bag and box and walked up to the door.

“Let’s grab our stuffs and go in,” Dani said, scurrying past everyone to unlock the door.

As soon as they all entered the house, the stench of dust hit them hard, the house felt cold.

“I-I-I can-n-n-t find a switch. Oh, okay, I got it,” Ruth said, feeling excited already. The house was neatly organized and decorated, as if someone cleaned it because they were coming.

“Whoa!” Stacy exclaimed.

“Let’s get settled then, we should pick our rooms,” said Ezekiel, he picked up his box and followed his girlfriend, they all followed Dani. Ruth who was behind her friends felt a cold chill run down her spine, goosebumps appeared on her skin, she folded her arms and hugged herself. She looked back but everything seemed to be normal, and so she shrugged the feeling off.

“We’ll take this room by the right, it’s facing outside,” Ivan said. He pulled his boyfriend playfully, and holding his waist, he asked, “Baby, you like this room, yeah?” He nibbled on his boyfriend’s ear.

Patrick’s reply barely came out as a whisper, “Yes baby, we gon’ fuck all night.” He smiled sheepishly, Ivan brought his face closer and kissed him softly on the lips.

Ruth and Jasper took the room facing Ivan’s, Louie and Stacie’s room was beside the door leading to the basement, while Ezekiel and Dani stayed in Dani’s room.

That night, the students stayed in their chosen rooms, skipping dinner and feeding on whatever junks they brought along with them. The house felt chilly, and unbeknownst to them, there was a secret that lurked around. Dani knew only little of it and since none of her family at home knew she was going on a trip to the cabin at Lakewood, there was no way she’d be able to protect her friends and herself. She lived with her parents who were very wealthy and had no time for her, and Justin her elder brother lived in Calabasas, with his girlfriend and daughter, Mila. This left her alone to deal with her personal problems.

Her grandfather who owned the cabin now lived at the care center for the old. Grandfather Martins had told his son, Darius (Danielle’s father) to let him stay at the care center since his wife died after they left the cabin. He alone knew the story of the cabin and the secret that lurked around as he never had the chance to destroy the notes and put the cabin up for auction. He hoped that no one will ever visit the cabin again, after what happened to him and everything that happened before the calamity befell him and his wife. He wished nothing of sort would happen to someone else.

Above all Gabriel Martins was happy that his three children didn’t come across the notes, he wondered what would have became of them, would they have ended up like him or in the psychiatric home. He was glad his children and grandchildren were safe. But Danielle wasn’t safe anymore, if only he knew that the worse was about to happen!
