Flustered

Slowly, faster
My heat rate tripled at every thought.
I’m imprisoned in my own dark cage.
Grief smeared over my breath.

Slowly, faster
My tongue screeches.
Thousands of words I can’t say loud,
Chokes my yelling voice.

Slowly, faster
My eyes are heavy.
With countless drops
Running down my cheeks.
Satisfying my pillow all night long.

Slowly, faster
My flesh wizened.
The weight of the woes crack my bones.
That, stung like hell.

Slowly, faster
Faster, slowly
I’ve been going round and round in this
Dark night of my soul.
