Betrayal

Perfidy! Treachery!

“Oh! My mealy-mouthed lover.”

Like the beautiful red roses, like the sweet sugar, that’s the way you came.
You had your way of making me feel like an angel even when I wore rags.
You had pitiful wishes on your outer lips, when I listened, I drowned in compound rut
With a solenoid-driven needle and
ink, you were tattooed on my heart.

I ran like a cheetah,
Oscillating deep in many possibilities just to shelter your smile.

But lately did I realize, that you were a ‘smuggler’
who wrapped my loyalty in the cuffs of your sleeves.
Twisting them with your sophistry ways.

Lately did I realize, that you are a ‘windbag’ who gave me babble talks to rely on.

Lately did I realize, that you were an ‘insolent’ who sent my gifts to your wanted chic. Sipped from my humility. You mauled my love.

Lately did I realize, that you were a ‘humbug’ who gave me wishy-washy answers before I could speak

Lately did I realize, that I’ve been sleeping with sham hope.

Lately did I realize, that what I held was a wingless dream.

So this is it all, with the sudden change of the sound of my heart beat.

So this is it all, how I turned a woebegone

No wonder, you now think I’m a mooncalf, because you’ve gotten all you wanted.

No wonder, you were far too gone before I woke up.
