Ashes

My heart’s on fire, engulfed in flames
Of love and desire, and you’re to blame
All pleasure, no pain, I’ll run from the rain
I’ll keep my heart sheltered, for you, it won’t burn in vain

I’ll keep these flames alive for you
For they burn brightly like yours do
Keep this fire alive, please don’t let it die
So there’ll be no ashes, and no goodbye

For ashes will remind us of what used to be
And goodbye will deny us access to what was once free
So let your fire burn, and send smoke into the sky
As a sign of the love shared between you and I.

Why not share?
