Crashed Hopes

I turn off the alarm by five every morning
Say a prayer, take a bath
Find me at my usual spot before the mirror

I see the reflection

There is my lovely self poised on the stool
The naked square of my shoulders
The spray of curly hair on top of my head
My full, brown lips
My flat nose

I see the two strokes beside my eyes
Like two ends of a fence
So I can’t see the other side
I only see the two strokes beside my eyes

My country can’t be saved

Why not share?
