Sinner’s Plight

Life was too good to abandon, too sweet to ignore
So much pleasure, so much fun, from which I couldn’t withdraw
The women, the parties; lust and drunkenness
They all muted that divine voice that called as I listened less

I loved the wrong people, I loved wrongly; I took the wrong route
I was soaked in sin, covered with evil, within and without
Talks about heaven and hell sounded like folktales, so unreal
Now heaven’s gates reject me; I’m enslaved by hell’s flames and the devil’s seal
